At Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam, we celebrate everything that makes Jeeps special—from their legendary off-road capability to their unique place in automotive history. But Jeep is so much more than just Wranglers and Gladiators. From vintage Willys to classic Wagoneers, every Jeep tells a story, and we’re thrilled to bring one of those stories to life with our 2025 event build: a beautifully restored 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
This iconic full-size Jeep is more than a build; it’s a symbol of Jeep’s diversity and heritage. By blending its vintage charm with modern upgrades, the Wagoneer will serve as a rolling ambassador for the Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam, showcasing what makes Jeep culture so special while bringing something fresh and exciting to the event.
Why a 1989 Grand Wagoneer?
The Grand Wagoneer is a classic in every sense of the word. Known for its blend of rugged utility and upscale comfort, it helped define the modern SUV while staying true to Jeep’s adventurous roots. This particular Wagoneer came to us in outstanding condition, with a restored body and an AMC 360 V8 engine ready for upgrades. Its four-door design and unmistakable style make it the perfect choice for a Jeep Jam build that celebrates Jeep history while inspiring future adventures.
For our 2025 event, the Wagoneer will serve as an official Beach Crawl Recovery Vehicle, embodying the spirit of exploration and readiness that Jeepers hold dear. Whether it’s assisting along the sandy shores of Myrtle Beach during our iconic Sunrise Beach Crawl or showcasing its capabilities at regional events across the Southeast, this build will represent the heart of Jeep Jam while celebrating the broader Jeep community’s passion for innovation, adventure, and camaraderie.
What’s in Store for the Build?
Our plans for the Grand Wagoneer are as ambitious as they are exciting, with upgrades planned in several key areas:
- Performance: We’ll modernize the Wagoneer’s reliability with a fuel injection system, upgraded ignition, and enhanced braking.
- Capability: A lift kit and larger tires will give this Jeep a bold stance and the off-road ability it deserves.
- Functionality: Recovery tools, off-road lights, and rugged equipment will ensure it’s prepared for any challenge.
- Style: Native Sons will design a retro-inspired wrap featuring Jeep Jam branding, celebrating the Wagoneer’s iconic design with a modern twist.
Each upgrade will be documented and shared with our Jeep Jam family, so you can follow the build and share your input along the way.
A Celebration of Jeep Culture
This Wagoneer isn’t just a project—it’s a celebration of Jeep’s legacy and its incredible range of vehicles. From the Willys to the Wagoneer, the CJ to the Grand Cherokee, Jeep’s history is as diverse as the community that loves it. The 1989 Grand Wagoneer reminds us that Jeep culture is about more than what’s new—it’s about embracing every chapter of the journey.
As the 2025 Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam Event Build, the Wagoneer will take center stage at Jeep Jam and travel to regional events, including car shows, local meetups, parades, and other Jeep gatherings, showcasing its transformation and the spirit of the Jeep community. Along the way, it will show that Jeep culture is alive and thriving, inspiring more vintage Jeep owners to join our growing community. Follow the journey as we transform this Grand Wagoneer into a rolling piece of Jeep Jam history. From design polls to progress updates, we’re bringing you along every step of the way. Together, let’s celebrate the diversity of Jeep culture and show the world that every Jeep has a story worth telling.
